The Coconino County Board of Supervisors has recognized that the threat of catastrophic wildfire represents the #1 health and safety issue for Coconino County. There are actions which can be taken to reduce this risk, but they must be taken before the smell of smoke is in the air.

Firewise USA® is a national program to encourage people to build and maintain homes and properties that will survive destructive wildfire. It provides recognition to those individuals and communities who have met the criteria and have taken the recommended actions. Firewise preparation saves lives, protects homes and properties, and preserves the surrounding natural resources.
